Class of 55, or before
by Charles Craig

Your e-mail rang some bells from the time I was at ESC - from 1947 to 1951. My family were sent back to the UK when I was 12, but Loutfi Sherbini, Clive Gibson, and Hani Genena were definitely in my class when I was there. Our form mistress was (I think) Miss Inglis, and Hani sat to my left. He became my closest school friend at that time, but we were, of course, very young. I visited his home and family on several occasions, and when I left, I knew I had lost a good friend. It was sad to hear of his passing away, quite young I think, as I am now 65, and he must have been about my age. I can remember my years at ESC as if it was yesterday, the green/blue school buses with the English rose on the side, the (to me) very modern buildings on the edge of the desert, or so it seemed, and the airy classrooms and lots of open space. I loved Egypt, still do, and it had a profound effect on me in those formative years of ones'' life. I found the website two years ago, and have just come back to it. I shall keep checking now.
